Bryanston String Teachers’ Day

In the afternoon, some sessions are running in parallel with the students’ day. Teachers will have the choice between observing students or attending the alternative teacher session.

9.15am Registration for teachers. Tea and Coffee (chance to display any promotional material regarding courses/ music arrangements etc)

10.00am Talk on Alexander Technique for string players by Victoria Cresswell. After the talk, there will be opportunities to set up 30 minute small group sessions with Victoria throughout the day.

11am Tea/ coffee

11.30am Getting the best out of pupils and parents by Alex Laing

12 noon Q & A session with Alex Laing on trouble shooting

12.30pm LUNCH (Dining Room in the Main School)

1.15pm Teacher Meeting in the Recital Room: an opportunity to discuss what events would be of interest in the future.

1.45pm Registration for violin students
Tea and coffee/ browsing of material in the Concert Hall Foyer.

2.00pm Alexander Technique for violin students with Victoria Cresswell
Cello/ Double bass Teachers: mini talks given by volunteer delegates
Violin/ Viola Teachers: mini talks given by volunteer delegates

3pm BREAK – tea and coffee

3.30pm Violin Performance Class for violin students: Alex Laing
This is an opportunity to learn through observation and group discussion.
Three or four pupils will be given the opportunity to play a piece which will then form the basis of an open forum group discussion and over the course of the session, all pupils and observers will be encouraged to experiment on their instruments to aid their learning.
