I would like to thank Thomastik-Infeld Vienna and the Joan Dickson Chamber Music Fund for the generous bursary which will allow me to go to Arpeggione in April 2017. This will be my second time on the course, so I have an idea of what to expect and I am very excited to find out which chamber group I'll be in, and what we'll be playing. I'm also really looking forward to the orchestra sessions - and the food!!
I would like to thank Thomastik-Infeld Vienna and JDCMF for making it possible for me to go to Arpeggione just before Easter.
I had a fantastic time. I led a sextet of violas playing the Dvorak Dumka. It was good experience having to lead the tempo changes, and listen to and watch all the other players. I needed to project my sound as I had the main melodies for quite a lot of the time, and this took a lot of work. The atmosphere and fun music-making at Arpeggione is so brilliant and I'm very grateful for being able to attend this year.
