I’m writing to say a big thank you to Hidersine and JDCMF for the bursary so I could go on the
Arpeggione course at Easter. I was so happy and appreciative to learn that I had been awarded
this bursary.
I had a great experience on the course. I learnt how to lead a chamber group, be sensitive when
playing with others, and I made some good musical friends (all viola players). I led an
arrangement of Dvorak’s Dumka sextet, played in “Take Five” and a Beatles medley and also
“You do something to me” for 16 violas. All the tutors were fantastic on the course, and taught
me really well. It was a good balance between coaching, social time and music making. The
food was also fantastic and mealtimes were such fun as we all sat at one huge table. At
bedtime, it was as if I was on a Harry Potter film set going to bed in the beautiful Tudor barn.
From this course, I have been very motivated at practicing my viola at home. It is such an
inspiring course and I would like to come back for more.
Many thanks to Hidersine for your generosity. It allowed me take part in high standard music
making activities with others. It was the best course I ever attended.
