My name is Amelia and I want to thank JDCMF and Thomastik Infeld-Vienna for sponsoring me to attend the Arpeggione Intermediate course. I am really excited to go on this course and am looking forward to learning and playing viola and having fun! Thank you very much.

And after:

Intermediate Arpeggione (April 2018)

I am writing to thank JDCMF and the sponsor Thomastik Infeld-Vienna for granting this bursary which made it possible for me to go to Arpeggione. I had an amazing time on the course, I learnt lots and made some great friends. It was fun to play chamber music and orchestra with other viola players and I learnt new things I can do to help me improve on the viola. One thing I worked on improving in the chamber music groups was my ability to communicate with the other players in the group. It is really important to be aware of what is going on around you while you are playing and during the course I tried to look up more and not just concentrate on what I am playing. Another thing we did on the course was masterclasses and it was nice to hear my friends playing, it was also a good way to pick up useful tips to improve my own playing, such as tips on vibrato and bow distribution. I really loved working with the other children and the teachers were also great! I enjoyed it so much that by the end of the course I didn’t want to go home! Overall this course has been really enjoyable and has been very beneficial for my viola playing. Thank you so much for giving me the bursary I am really grateful!

Thank you

Amelia (aged 13)
